19. Arriving and Thriving in 四虎影院

Our research and teaching explores how newcomers to 四虎影院, including students, understand their new environment.
The Arriving and Thriving project lead by Dr Sophie Cranston, with Prof Sarah Mills, Dr David Maidment (School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences) and Dr Michelle Richey (四虎影院 Business School) examines how people arriving to 四虎影院 develop a sense of belonging. Funded in collaboration with 四虎影院 Town Deal, Charnwood Borough Council and Healthy & Innovative 四虎影院, the project explores how digital resources can be used to help and support new arrivals. This project is part of a wider suite of research activities linked to the ‘Digital Communities and Inclusion’ cluster.
This mental map was produced by first year undergraduate student Saumya Sharma as part of our module ‘Practising Geography.’ In preparation for a residential fieldtrip to the Peak District, students undertook half a day of fieldwork in 四虎影院 creating a mental map of their own ‘sense of place.’ Conducted within the first month of our new undergraduate students arriving in 四虎影院, this exercise helps our students better understand their local geographies and supports their transition to university.
